Horn Academy PTO
The 2004 Bellaire Fall New Home Showcase chose Horn Academy PTO as its beneficiary. More than 550 Bellaire elementary students benefited from the showcase proceeds. The executive board and Master Plan committees carefully considered how to use the generous donation. Three key areas directly benefited:
First, Horn lost their music program and the PTO felt it was important to provide opportunities to bring music to the students. Last fall, Houston Grand Opera's "Opera To Go" team performed "The Velveteen Rabbit" for all the students at Horn.
Second, the sound system in the Horn cafeteria/auditorium had not worked for years. With the help of the Showcase, the PTO replaced the old system with a new one that will be much used and appreciated.
And finally, Horn’s classrooms are so cramped that the 4th and 5th grade students can only take the books they need for the current lesson. Books for other lessons that day are left on the hallway floor outside the classroom, which is not only chaotic, but also a potential fire hazard. After consultations with the Bellaire Fire Department, new metal storage cubbies will now line the walls of the hallway to improve organization and safety. (Before and after photos attached)
“On behalf of Horn Academy and the PTO let me thank you for your generosity this school year. I hope that the home tour was as successful for you as it was for us.”
Belinda Rossiter, Horn Academy PTO President, 2004-2005
